Driver’s License

Agent Application for a Driving License

What should you prepare before you can drive in Thailand? Is the driving license issued by another country recognized in Thailand? Such questions are most frequently asked by people who want to rent cars in Thailand.

According to laws and regulations of Thailand, driving a motor vehicle in Thailand needs a valid driving license issued by Thai government. Foreign driver's license in Thailand is temporarily not recognized by the law. As a result, those who don’t hold a local driving license, please don’t rent or drive a vehicle, in case of negative influences from the emergence of accidents. Many foreign tourists in Thailand rent motorcycles. However, it is illegal to rent them without a driving license. In recent years, there have been frequent cases of disputes by mortgaging passports, driver's licenses and other information to car rental companies, making it difficult to protect tourists’ rights and interests.
